Hon Chan is the Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA) for Richmond Centre, British Columbia. A former journalist with Fairchild Television, he spent 15 years as a news anchor and talk show host, covering key issues such as affordability, healthcare, and infrastructure. His deep understanding of community concerns led him to transition into politics.
In August 2024, Chan was nominated as the BC Conservative candidate for Richmond Centre. He won the October 19, 2024, election with over half the votes, defeating NDP and independent candidates. In November 2024, he was appointed as the opposition critic for climate solutions and climate readiness.
Beyond politics, Chan has actively contributed to the Richmond community. He volunteered at Richmond Hospital, translating key materials into Chinese, and served on advisory committees for the City of Richmond. He also played a role in his residential building’s strata council.
Chan remains engaged with constituents through social media, sharing legislative updates and community initiatives. His transition from journalism to politics reflects his commitment to public service and improving life in British Columbia.
