The Chinese Canadian Museum is a living home for stories that have shaped Canada. Located in Vancouver’s historic Chinatown, the Museum preserves and shares the experiences of Chinese Canadians from the 1800s to today. It is housed in the restored Wing Sang Building, the oldest Chinese-owned building in Canada.
The Museum’s origins began in 2017, when the Province of British Columbia committed to establishing a museum dedicated to the Chinese Canadian community. Extensive consultations across B.C. led to the founding of the Chinese Canadian Museum Society of BC in 2020. On July 1, 2023, the Museum officially opened its permanent home.
Today, the Museum offers over 21,000 square feet of exhibition and program space across three floors of rotating and permanent exhibitions. Its impact has been nationally recognized, including the Governor General’s Award in Excellence in Museums (2024), the City of Vancouver Heritage Award (2025), and Best Canada Venue in Museum Space (2026).
