The Phoenix Art Workshop is a privately run visual arts centre with art classes emphasizing visual literacy, design, and individual creativity for young people and adults.  Our focus is largely centered on painting and drawing mediums, although you may be interested in having a look at our Community Art page to get a feel for what we are really about – a community-based resource for art supplies, custom framing, and education.

We started commercial framing 16 years ago in the back of a Bird and Nature cottage and a year later took over the lease and relaunched the business as Phoenix Coastal Art.  Born out of the ashes of the bird store, we quickly grew from custom framing and hand-made artisan gifts to selling art supplies.  In 2001 we opened our new location on Chatham Street and began to offer art classes, but quickly outgrew this location as well and in 2009 moved classes to our annex studio, located a block away on 1st ave.  We have never looked back, staying connected to the artistic needs of our community and promoting art with community-based art projects and events like the Grand Prix of Art , as well as leading international art excursion to such exotic locations as Cuba, Guatemala, Bali, Italy, and more.
