Consistent with its slogan, “the future lives here”, Surrey recently set out to transform the way it manages the environmental footprint of its waste management operations. Progressive is on board for the journey after the city awarded it one of the largest residential collection contracts on the west coast.

Some 95,000 households and 28,000 multi-family residents are now served by a fleet of Progressive trucks exclusively powered by compressed natural gas (CNG). Our vehicles service 300,000 carts specially equipped with radio frequency identification chips that allow real time tracking – a substantial customer service advantage. Residents can also download a smart phone application to gain instant access to Surrey’s collection schedules.

Progressive’s new CNG trucks reduce carbon emissions by 23% and air particulates by 90% compared to diesel trucks. Due to the single stream collection system employed and our route management techniques, we can economize on truck travel, save time, , fuel and the environment. The trucks feature automated handling, allowing the driver to stay on board while carts are emptied.
