Description
Founded in 2011, Pear Tree offers spring camps that are designed to provide enriching, hands-on experiences that cater to the unique developmental needs of children aged 5-12 years, as well as ESL students. Each camp is crafted to ignite curiosity, foster creativity, and promote critical thinking.
Week 1: March 17th - 21st
Ages 5-6: Fairytale Theatre
Join us for an enchanted week at Fairytale Theatre! In this 5-day summer camp, children ages 5-6 explore beloved stories through interactive drama, art, and creative play.
Daily activities include:
Character creation and costume design
Storytelling and performance workshops
Set building and prop making
Fairytale-inspired crafts and games
Outdoor adventures in our “Enchanted Forest”
Your child will build confidence, make friends, and develop creative skills while bringing classic tales to life. Our experienced educators create a supportive environment where imagination flourishes.
Ages 7-8: Food, Glorious Food!
In this 5-day summer camp, children ages 7-8 explore cooking, food science, and global cuisine through hands-on culinary experiences.
Daily activities include:
Blueberry crumble baking and blind taste testing
Cake art and learning about carbohydrates
Grocery store scavenger hunt and protein exploration
Food riddles and sushi making
Corn tortilla and salsa preparation
Your child will learn kitchen safety, explore different food groups, and develop healthy eating habits. All allergies accommodated with advance notice.
Ages 9-10: Maker Space
In this 5-day camp, students ages 9-10 explore engineering and creative problem-solving through hands-on building projects.
Daily activities include:
Marble runs and motorized Galaxy Bots
Squishy circuits and conductive dough creations
LED pop-up cards and copper tape circuits
Balloon-powered cars and mechanical automata
Scribble machines and catapult challenges
Comprehensive safety instruction provided for tools and materials. Students take home most creations except electrical components.
Ages 11-12: Film Studios
In this 5-day camp, children ages 11-12 learn filmmaking through hands-on experience creating a short film.
Daily activities include:
Drama exercises, film crew roles, camera techniques practice
Acting workshops, filming practice shots, video editing basics
Script work, character development, monologue practice
Film production: crew assignments and shooting
Complete filming, edit final project, film screening
Students work as a team to produce a “Ghost Hunters” short film while learning both on-camera and production roles. All equipment provided.
Week 2: March 24th - 28th
Ages 5-6: Painters Pallet
In this 5-day summer camp, children ages 5-6 explore painting techniques, famous artists, and fairy tales through hands-on art projects.
Daily activities include:
Watercolor and acrylic painting lessons
Famous artist studies and style exploration
Fairy tale-inspired art projects
Color theory and blending workshops
Portfolio creation
Your child will build artistic confidence while making new friends in our intimate class setting. Join our experienced instructors for a week of creative exploration.
Ages 7-8: STEM
In this 5-day summer camp, children ages 7-8 explore engineering, problem-solving, and creative design through hands-on projects and experiments.
Daily activities include:
Building Rube Goldberg machines and marble runs
Designing balloon-powered cars and soap-powered boats
Creating paper rockets and parachutes
Engineering water wheels and wooden rafts
Constructing mobiles and student-choice inventions
Your child will develop engineering skills and scientific thinking through collaborative challenges. Safety instruction and supervision provided for all activities.
Ages 9-10: Kids Can Cook!
In this 5-day camp, children ages 9-10 learn essential culinary skills and nutrition through hands-on cooking experiences.
Daily activities include:
Kitchen safety, tuna melts, and berry crumble
Scrambled eggs and vegetable cooking techniques
Spaghetti Bolognese with hidden vegetables
Restaurant field trip and salmon patties
Sushi-making and omega-3s discussion
Students will learn kitchen safety, cooking techniques, and healthy eating habits while working in teams. All equipment and ingredients provided.
Ages 11-12: Entrepreneurs
In this 5-day camp, children ages 11-12 learn the fundamentals of starting and running a business through hands-on projects.
Daily activities include:
Business ideation, market research, and entrepreneurial skills assessment
Financial planning, location scouting, and startup costs analysis
Sales pitch development and Dragons’ Den presentations
WordPress website creation and branding
Marketing strategies and video commercial production
Students work in teams to develop real business plans, create websites, and practice sales presentations.
