Vancity was founded in 1946 by fourteen motivated change-makers who felt underserved by traditional banks that wouldn’t lend East of Cambie. So they formed the credit union — a place where the people who bank here, also own the place. Vancity is a member-owned, community-based, full-service financial institution that provides financial services to people from all walks of life. This year, they are celebrating 80 years of community-first banking.
