The Richmond Chamber’s Women’s Leadership Circle heard that you are looking for opportunities to learn practical self-defence tools, in a room of your peers. Women-identified and gender-diverse Chamber members are invited to join us for an empowering afternoon workshop focused on women's self-defence. Learn practical techniques to protect yourself and build confidence in potentially dangerous situations.

The workshop will feature a 20-minute presentation from the Richmond RCMP, providing valuable insights into common safety concerns and strategies for staying safe. You'll hear from experienced officers who understand the risks women face and can help you develop the tools you need to protect yourself.

After the presentation, Master Michael Lok, a 9^th-degree black belt, and founder of Lok’s Hapkido School, will guide you through a series of practical self-defence techniques in an open and safe format. Hapkido is a Korean martial art that emphasizes self-defence techniques based on the principles of non-resistance and flowing movements. You'll learn how to use your body's natural movements to neutralize threats and stay safe.

You'll leave feeling empowered and equipped with practical skills to protect yourself and your loved ones. All abilities and experience levels are welcome. Participants should wear comfortable athletic pants and a t-shirt. The practical workshop will require participants to be barefoot. Please inform the Chamber in advance if you have any injuries or physical limitations. This workshop is suitable for participants of all fitness levels.
